James Lavelle's Abstract Scientific Shit From the Gates of Hell With Vibes
1 What Does Your Soul Look Like? DJ Shadow (Mo' Wax)
2 The Beast (Remixes) Palm Skin Productions (Mo' Wax)
3 Karma Coma (UNKLE Remix) Massive Attack (acetate)
4 Cry Money Mark (Mo' Wax/Love Kit 7")
5 Various Cheap LP Kuts Patrick Pulsinger (Cheap)
6 Cover Action Urban Tribe (Retroactive)
7 Exotica Skylab (white label)
8 Warning Firefox and 4 Tree (Phillie Blunt)
9 Various Kuts The Prunes (Excursions)
10 Catatonic (carl craig mix) Kenny Larkin (R&S)
This top ten looks like a "Ha ha, look at all the stuff I have that you
don't" list. The DJ Shadow track is the legendary 40 minute single,
the UNKLE mixes of Massive Attack have yet to be released (arrgh!), the
remixes of the Beast (Original out this week, remixes not out yet) include
remixes by DJ Krust/Roni Size (Jungle), Autechre (!) and Global
Communication (!!). The Money Mark track is some guy doing porno cheezy
funk stuff out of LA, I think you can buy the original, but not the Mo' Wax
version. The new Skylab (!) is a white label. The only stuff I've ever
seen here is the Kenny Larkin track and I think Patrick Pulsinger has a
12" out on R&S right now. All this info came out of the 21 Jan. issue
of NME, which is quite good. There's some event happenning tomorrow with
Renegade Soundwave, Depth Charge, James Lavelle, A Guy Called Gerald,
mu-ziq, Dread Zone, LTJ Bukem, DJ Evolution and more. Also reviewed
is the new Jedi Knights single on Clear as well as the new one by Tuscen
Raiders (mu-ziq) called Bantha Trax. I guess everything has to do with
Star Wars sooner or later...
