I guess I should have been more clear. I wasn't trying to imply that an EQ will easily boost any frequency range. Simply that a well-setup EQ can sculpt the sound to your liking, not necessarily boost the bass. Like was said by a few here, this in itself will add some noise/distortion to the overall sound. - stevenJ
