I don't know if this was mentioned here, but I just got "The Infinite
Wheel" on the Braink label (41CD). This is the same label that brought
us Ultramarine's first pressing of their "Every man..." classic.
This is a really good record, it's sound like Banco De Gaia, but removed
from the middle/far-east and landed in the Caribbean. So the sound
is very dubby and times reggae-ish, but never dull. There is quite a
good use of precussions and some deep bass which sounds great with
the dronning synths and samples in the background. The tracks also have
an ambient sound to them, but the beat either is around the corner or
hinted.
On the subject of the label I am not sure if they are related
to Club Brain in London, since I also have a compilation on the label
called "Live at Club Brain," which was the first time I had heard
Ultramarine's "Brittish Summertime." Anyway, this one should be in any
IDM collection.
