From:owner-idm@hyperreal.com From: darko <RIMELLBD@ibm3090.bham.ac.uk> Subject: AeP (and test) Hi :) Firstly, can anyone let me know whether they have recieved this, as I'm kinda having trouble wondering whether hyperreal.com is actually listening to me.....ta..... Autechre's "Anti" ep Tracks : Lost Djarum Flutter Anti ep is autechre's contribution to the fight against the criminal Justice Bill (a bill trying to be passed here in UK which will *attempt* to destroy free festivals, and probably dance music culture in britain in general, as well as remove the rtight to silence, and a whole crock of other shit). It contains a severe (tongue in cheek?) warning on the cover about the contents of the box containing repetitive beats (something outlawed by the bill in festivals). More precisely, Lost and Djarum are repetitive. Lost strikes me as aslightly-above-average autechre with the usual complex off-beats, and good tune....Djarum more as an electronic doodle. But the reall goodie on here is "Flutter", a track programmed so that no two bars of rhythm are the same : namely it isnt repetitive. This track is absolutely brilliant, hardhitting stuff. It starts off with the insane rhythm (even the cymbal sounds in the background are all offbeat and changing), and pretty cool tune, and gets progressively madder as time wears on, until everything drops out, and we're left with an ambient fade out. It is one of the best tracks I've heard in ages, and is definitely worth checking out if you can get hold of it (USAers will probably be able to get it on import.....). Thats it.... darko
