1) Req had a very nice album coming out on Warp next month. 14 tracks of
the lofi hiphop sound we all know. uh, if we know req. The collaboration
with kid acne (himself) is called rap traffic and is out now on invisible
spies.
http://www.invisiblespies.com --- i haven't had a chance to check
it, but it was highly recommended by the tasteful folks at pelicanneck not
too long ago.
2) Whenever i listen to hip hop, it's usally the semi-underground east coast
style rap. My faves are common, taleb qweli, mos def, the roots. the
blackstar album by mos def and taleb qweli has to be the best hip-hop record
i have in my possession. I'm really looking forward to the followup, out
sometime this year, not sure when. Pick it up, everyone.
4) Machine drum is on merck
http://www.m3rck.net .. a vinyl version of now
you know was released a couple months ago. his half the battle 12" is
coming out soon and has some beautiful remixes by the likes of proem,
brothomstates, and ilkae.
