I thought it was majorly ironic that this album came from someone who was putting down trance as being "three notes repeated over and over." I have a hard time seeing Rich as doing anything else on this album.

Geez, the Aphex backlash starts here, eh? Erm, as far as "strikingly new or innovative" goes, I haven't heard anything from "Industrial Culture" in several years that deserves that appelation. On the other hand, the track Jon dubs "Distorted Beat" wipes the floor with every "Industrial" song I've heard in recent memory. It f*ck*n' cranks, dUUd! (-: And I would hardly call SAW II a "Trance" album ... but isn't this like saying because it's "three notes repeated over and over", then therefore it's just like a Ramones album? (-: Trivia: the track Jon calls "Flutey ascension with Percussion" is the track he opened with in San Francisco. He also might have played "Blue Calx", but by then my brain was in a parallel universe ... (-: - Greg

actually, i never liked him that much so i can't really have a backlash...

absolutely right, and i was referring to Old Industrial Stuff, actually. i hear echoes of stuff that throbbing gristle, zoviet france, cabaret voltaire and nurse with wound did many years ago all over SAW 2.

i have no argument with that. recent memory industrial is definitely lame as fuck. but SAW 2 is a throwback to an old era of industrial culture. perhaps i should have said industrial history instead of culture in my original review. Jon Drukman jdrukman%dlsun87@oracle.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This calls for a very special blend of psychology and extreme violence.

No, no, no -- the Ramones use three _chords_. :-) DM ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::dmanning@cwis.unomaha.edu:::::::::: :: "Tonight all I need is silence." :: :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::--Rollerskate Skinny::::::::::
