Could people maybe add a little *why* they were the best? I am trying to get at what risks, what feats, what real live tweaking madness the musicians are accomplishing at their shows. To what extent are they doign anything up there? I saw Phoenicia not long ago, who gave a pretty sick demonstration of LOGIC. Chris Wessin, when with the oRB was pretty amazing live engineer. Uh in no particualr order Yo La Tengo doing the Sounds of Science - that show is really amazing. I wish they would release a DVD of it. GCTTCATT - for doing things to a turntable that you shouldn't normally do. GYBE! - Not IDM I know, but one of the most overpowering acts I've seen live. Mr Scruff - the most downright enjoyable DJ set I've had the pleasure of seeing. (DJ'ing is live, sort of) Wobbly - listen to wild why, try to imagine that being donw live. -Neil -- --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Well, the reason I was so amazed at the Venetian Snares show is that he was mixing between his tracks on a cd turntable. I've never seen anyone use a cd mixer (I don't really go to a lot of electronic shows). And his tracks are so chaotic, I figure that it probably takes a lot of time and practice to be able to mix between them. Brutal. On another note, I saw the grindcore band Dystopia play. The most amazing metal/grind/powerviolence show ever. Dino can play the drums like a madman and gut scream at the same time. If anyone on this list is into crazy metal stuff, check out dystopia. The best! They played with this band called Isis, and they killed as well. They played so loud. Awesome. My 8 cents, jason -----Original Message----- From: Bryan Finoki [mailto:finoki@lucasarts.com] Sent: Wednesday, August 14, 2002 11:01 AM To: 'George Williamson'; idm list Subject: RE: [idm] Who performed the best live act that you have seen/reme mber/reccomend? In order. MUKILTEO FAIRIES My friend's living room, Bismarck North Dakota 1994. It was amazing to us that a band would travel from the west coast and play in our living room. I had no idea what to expect and was completely blown away!! Extremely energixed spastic queer-core. Mukilteo Fairies are the BEST PUNK BAND EVER!!! MOUSE ON MARS at the Graceland in Seattle about two years ago. I think this is the first time I ever "danced". Everybody danced!! DEICIDE in Seattle, same venue as above, about a year ago. Relived old memories of "no false metal" and felt the same rush metal used to give me when I was heavily into it. Plus it's funny to watch metal musicians roll their eyes into the back of their heads and make evil faces. on 8/14/02 2:28 PM, lily whoosh at theanarchistlily@caramail.com wrote:
