any reviews on the remix on the cd (rhythmic phonetics mix)? going to maybe pick this up later, so any quick impressions greatly appreciated... also, heard that the 2nd mix (speech therapy), which is vinyl only, is supposed to be better... anyone pick up the vinyl with both mixes? i have yet to see it, and it hasn't popped up on skimo's list yet. brap@sonic.net icq_12645306 http://www.sonic.net/~brap/

I've heard the 12". I actually preferred the first mix, which from memory is the rhythmic phonetics one. It kept quite a solid beat, with the vocals being cut up, but within phrases. So the lyrics were still distinct, just one step more nonsensical. :) The other mix has some long passages where everything breaks down to slurring passages of digitally edited vocals. I didn't really enjoy it, so I didn't pay much attention. Both remind me of Autechre's approach to remixes of late - primarily digitally reworking extant phrases of the original song, with a new rhythm. And no, I'm not slagging Matmos for being derivative! Hi brap, You can get all the Bjork stuff directly from One Little Indian at their site - http://www.indian.co.uk/ The vinyl-only Matmos mix is excellent; I would recommend getting the vinyl instead of the CD if you can handle it. I'm going through a whole lot of new stuff at the moment and will post some reviews soon.
