nurse with wound put out several albums this year, depending on
how you look at it. there's a double CD on co-conspirator colin
potter's label which includes a surprising distorted trip-hop track.
there was a CD reissue of last year's excellent "she and me fall
together in free death" LP which was more than a nod to
stapleton's beloved krautrock roots.
but the real news is the recent "angry eelectric finger" CDs. there
was one album's worth of material, which was treated differntly by
jim o'rourke, cyclobe, and irr app. (ext.). for the long droning
ambient freaks among you i recommend the o'rourke 2-track
version. for those who like things slick and electronically
processed, the 5-track cyclobe mix is the way to go. irr app ext.
probably gets it closest to the surreal weirdness stapleton would
have mixed himself. but you'll only know if you get the 4LP limited
edition with his mix on it (i declined).
i feel certain at least one of these "eelectric" CDs should be on my
top 2004 list since i keep listening to them. but i'm not sure which
one...
